MediaTek's Dimensity 8200 specs leak, minor upgrade over 8100
The Dimensity 8200 isn't official yet, but we already know it will power the Xiaomi Redmi phone and the upcoming iQOO 7 SE. And now thanks to a bunch of tipster digital chat stations we've got the SoC's key specs and they suggest a small upgrade over the Dimension 8100.
It will employ the same 4x Cortex-A78 and 4x Cortex-A55 cores, but in a different configuration at higher clock speeds. The A78 will be split into two clusters - 1x Cortex-A78 clocked at 3.1 GHz and 3x Cortex-A78 running at 3.0 GHz. Four functional Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.
For comparison, the Dimension 8100's Cortex-A78 runs at 2.85 GHz, so MediaTek has slightly increased the clock speed. The Mali-G610 MC6 GPU remains the same though. Finally, the tipster says that the SoC's AnTuTu performance has likely crossed the 900,000 point barrier.
The report concludes with some price predictions for future Redmi and iQOO smartphones powered by silicon. Apparently, they will not cross the CNY 2,000 barrier, which is $280 to the dollar. Of course, this price doesn't include taxes and other pricing elements in Western markets, but it still sounds pretty competitive.
