mysqld_safe Directory ‘/var/run/mysqld’ for UNIX socket file don’t exists what this Mean?

While Resetting the Database Password of VPS this message shows when running command. While restarting the database server you need to run this command

 

sudo mysqld_safe –skip-grant-tables –skip-networking &

here The ampersand(&) at the end of this command will make this process run in the background so you can continue to use your terminal.

For me when I run this command it shows “mysqld_safe Directory ‘/var/run/mysqld’ for UNIX socket file don’t exists”. In that case you just need to run those command and the “mysqld” directory will automatically create.

mkdir -p /var/run/mysqld

chown mysql:mysql /var/run/mysqld

Now you can connect to the database as the root user, which will not asked for a password. Now use this Command:

mysql -u root

Now this MySQL Prompt Will Promt

Type ‘help;’ or ‘\h’ for help. Type ‘\c’ to clear the current input statement

For MariaDB

First need to open the SSH session on your VPS. In Windows, the SSH client does not exist by default so you will need an additional software. The Additional Software is PuTTY. That can be downloaded from here for free.

When  download complete, simply launch it and then enter the VPS details you received by email:

While launched , A console window will appear, type root as user name and the associated password, received in the OVH activation email. If you don’t make any mistake, the SSH session is open on your server. Like this:

Change the root password, Now we will change the default root password that you have received in the activation mail from OVH. Do not use a simple password. Use a complex password, the whole security of your system will depend on this password. Now type the bellow command and confirm 2 times for your new root password.

Type: passwd (Enter)

then type your new password 2 times. but the password will not show because of the security issue. so type carefully no mistyping.
